Issue

Backup Exec reports V-79-57344-34028 - A backup storage read/write error has occurred when it reaches 75% full on a 1.4TB Deduplication folder.  This is happening because the deduplication software believes the drive has reached a threshold and considers it full.

Error

Final error: 0xe00084ec - A backup storage read/write error has occurred.

Cause

The deduplication storage folder is reaching the limits of its storage capacity.  The problem is that it is doing so at 20% to 25% of free disk space instead of the 15% setting that is set in the properties of the deduplication folder.  At this point, it is necessary to free up some space in the deduplication folder or add space to the drive where the deduplication folder is located.  See the related articles section for information on how to free up space in a deduplication folder.

Solution

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2010 R3 release.

This issue is resolved in Backup Exec 2010 R2 hotfix (154003).  See Related Documents.
