Issue

With the Symantec Network Access Control (SNAC) 11.0 product, can the SNMP Community String be changed when using the Management Information Base (MIB) provided for the LAN, DHCP, or Gateway Enforcer?

Environment

HP OpenView or other SNMP network monitoring software.

Solution

Due to the simplistic nature of the MIB provided as part of the Enforcers, there is no need to use or set the Community String.

To summarize:
The community string is not configurable.
Enforcer only send out SNMP traps, it cannot accept any SNAP GET/SET.
When sending traps, the community string is hard-coded to "public".
