Network issues during scan

Problem
When the Symantec Risk Automation Suite network discovery starts the network slows to a crawl.
Cause
The firewall is filling with half open connections in it's state table causing the outbound traffic to slow.
Solution
Identify the correct network masks associated with the discovered networks. The network group is also going to add some ACL's to deny any traffic that should not be going out of the firewall to be dropped prior to getting to the firewall. The network engineer has determined that the translation table within the firewall is filling up with translations and causing the firewall to lock up.
