Technical Solution

In certain circumstances, Auto-Protect or scheduled scans may detect previously quarantined files (DWH*.tmp) in the %temp% folder on Windows Vista, Windows 7, or later.

This problem can occur in the following cases:

If the %temp% folder has Content Indexing turned on.

To disable Content Indexing on the %temp% folder

  1. In the Control Panel, go to Indexing Options > Modify > Show All Locations.
  2. Locate the %temp% folder, and uncheck it if it is checked.

If an Explorer window has the %temp% folder open.
To prevent this from happening, close the Explorer window.

If other file monitors on the computer are checking the %temp% folder very actively while a Defwatch scan is running.
