Issue

Whenever I do a refresh of a Managed host "host1.foo.com", running Solaris 10 SF v5.1 , I get the error:

V-39-4095-805 Could not contact host, Xprtld may be down or host is not part of domain.

Error

V-39-4095-805 Could not contact host, Xprtld may be down or host is not part of domain.

Solution

For Refresh or Administer task, UI contacts the Managed Host from the Central Server using the name of the host as seen by VOM. Based on this it looks like that it's not able to contact the Host using that name from the CS. This is strange as we do check for reverse lookup by the same name from both sides during add host.

This is a known issue in VOM 3.0 and is fixed in VOM 3.0 RP1 (e1930659 ).
Workaround:

Please back up and then modify /etc/opt/VRTSsfmh/xprtld.conf and add a string at the end of this configuration file: “dhc_enabled 0” and restart xprtld

If the issue is not solved, please collect the following information, from VOM CS,

   # nslookup melbourne.s-ebc.com

   # nsllokup melbourne

   # nslookup <IP_address_of_melbourne>

/var/opt (entire directory)

/var/opt/VRTSsfmcs

/var/opt/VRTSsfmh

/etc/opt/VRTSsfmh/xprtld.conf

/etc/default

/opt/VRTS/install/logs (entire directory) (in UNIX)
