Symantec End-of-Version-Life Announcements
This communication is relevant for the following products and versions.  Some of these product releases may be covered in a previous End of Version Life Notice.

To:   Customers of the products listed in the chart above.  Please consult the chart below for the exact product names and versions affected.

Re:   Versions of Symantec Control Compliance Suite and related products previous to CCS v8.5 are beginning the End-of-Life process.  These versions have been supplanted with a subsequent Major Release.  Existing customers of the components and versions listed above will be able to buy additional licenses for 12 months following the respective EOL dates, provided that such version remains on the Symantec price list as available for ordering.  Normally, only the immediately prior version remains available for ordering.  Please check with your Symantec account representative for additional details.

Dear Valued Symantec Customer:

This letter is to notify you that Symantec Corporation will begin EOVL (End-of-Life) for the product and versions listed above.  Please consult the detailed chart below for the exact EOL start date for your affected product.  The versions of Control Compliance Suite (CCS), bv-Control, BindView Policy Manager and RMS Console, and other products listed above, have been supplanted by a subsequent Major Release (CCS version 8.5, which is now generally available).

Note that some of these product versions have been superceded by a release older than CCS 8.5. 

Existing customers of the products listed above will be able to purchase additional licenses for twelve (12) months following the respective EOL dates, provided that such version remains on the Symantec price list as available for ordering.  Normally, only the immediately prior version remains available for ordering.  Please check with your Symantec account representative for additional details.

Except for those versions noted below that follow the legacy BindView EOL policy, which includes CCS version 8.2 and prior, customers currently on maintenance for the products listed above will continue to receive standard support and updates until the end of their maintenance term or until EOL start date + 30 months, whichever comes first.  

The current version of CCS is version 8.5.  All customers that are current on maintenance are entitled to upgrade from prior versions to CCS version 8.5.

Customers should note that CCS version 8.2 and earlier releases of other legacy Bindview products not mentioned in this release will not adhere to the Symantec standard support policy. 

Instead, CCS version 8.2 and prior follows the legacy Bindview support policy, which will limit support only to the immediately prior version and only for a period of 12 months from release of the next version.  Currently, CCS version 8.2 is the immediately prior version; however, when CCS version 8.6 is released (expected to be on or around December 31, 2007), all CCS version 8.2 products will enter an End of Partial Support state.  Support for any version prior to CCS 8.2, if not covered in a separate notice, will similarly end with the release of CCS 8.6.

The transition from end of standard support to partial support is listed below for each affected product. The last day for “partial” support is also listed below for each affected product.
