=========================================================================== Symantec ON iCommand (tm) Windows Agent V6.3.2 Date: December 2004 Copyright (c) 2004 by Symantec Corporation. All rights reserved =========================================================================== Release Name: Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 SHORT DESCRIPTION: This service release includes a set of new Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent files. It provides several enhancements listed below. Installation packages are included. PREREQUISITE To take advantage of all enhancements and issues resolved in this release, you must install the "Symantec ON iCommand 3.0.x Service Pack 3b" or newer on the Symantec ON iCommand V3.0.x Configuration Server. The service pack provides an enhanced version of the CCM Java Agent Support Service. The service pack is available from www.symantec.com/techsupp/enterprise in the Downloads area for product updates. SUPPORTED PLATFORMS AND COMPATIBILITY Managed computer platforms: The agent will run under the following operating systems in English and German: - Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 1 and higher - Windows 2000 Server / Advanced Server - Windows XP Professional - Windows 2003 Standard Symantec ON iCommand server: The Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.1 is fully compatible with Symantec ON iCommand V3.0.x systems. REPLACED PREVIOUS RELEASES This service release replaces the content of all of the following previously released versions: Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.1 Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3 Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.2 SWPRelease 2.0 Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.2 SWPRelease 1.0 Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.1 SWPRelease 2.0 Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.1 DELIVERABLES There is an English and a German language version of the zip file containing complete packages with the agent files: Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 Installation Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 Update Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 Settings INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Ensure that Symantec ON iCommand has been properly installed, including any service packs for the Configuration Server. 2. Unzip the Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent package files in the Temp directory on your Administration PC or on a MS Windows(tm)-based Symantec ON iCommand Configuration Server. 3. Import the new appropriate language versions of the Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent packages to your Symantec ON iCommand Configuration Server using the "ON Command CCM Package Import Tool". UPDATE THE AGENT PACKAGES a) Use the Windows Agent Manager to update the Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent files and select the option 'Update CCM Agent'. b) Assign one of the following update packages: Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 Update (English) or Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent V6.3.2 Update (Deutsch) Please refer to the readme.htm file of each software package, which provides information about the corresponding administration parameter. ENHANCEMENTS AND ISSUES RESOLVED IN THIS RELEASE DTS 5005/79 Description: The agent does not recognize the server action period correctly. It assumes the server window with a discrepancy of 1 hour. New status: The new agent version resolves the issue so that the agent recognizes the server action period correctly. DTS 5005/78 Description: After upgrading the Symantec ON Command CCM Windows Agent to the Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent using the update package, the action period is recognized incorrectly. New status: The agent has been enhanced to resolve this issue. It recognizes the server action period correctly. DTS 5005/44 Description: If the server action period is set to span two days, the action period is recognized incorrectly. New status: The new agent version resolves the issue to recognize the server action period correctly. DTS 509/320, 5005/43 Description: A computer managed by the Symantec ON iCommand Windows Agent with the boot priority set to 0 is not able to execute jobs outside of the server action period. New status: A managed computer with the boot priority set to 0 is able to execute assigned jobs beyond the server action period. To enable this feature, install the "Symantec ON iCommand 3.0.x Service Pack 3b" on the Symantec ON iCommand V3.0.x Configuration Server and set the value sendclientpriority=1 in the ccmjass.cfg configuration file. Finally restart the CCM Web Services. NOTE: Although the CCM Database Service automatically checks for pending jobs, it does not forward the push/wakeup event beyond the server action period. DTS 5026/1, 5005/36 Description: A managed computer in MobileClient mode is in a dial-up session. After a new job is assigned, the Agent does not respond, and an error message may appear after receiving the push event. New status: This issue has been resolved in the new agent version. DTS 5029/2 Description: A job has been assigned to a managed computer but the agent does not communicate any activity to the server. This issue was caused by an internally used registry key which was not set with the result of operation abort. New status: The enhanced agent version creates the key on demand to prevent this issue. DTS <n/a> Description: The OpenSSL protocol is used for the communication between the agent and the CCM Java Agent Support Service. For security reasons the last released protocol version must be applied. New status: The OpenSSL protocol has been updated to 0.9.7e.
