Backup Exec reports Evaluation mode on Hyper-V host and no serial numbers are present after reboot of the Hyper-V host. This issue occurs when a Backup Exec Small Business License serial number is entered to protect a Small Business Server (SBS) Virtual Machine.

Backup Exec Small Business Server License
In Backup Exec 2010 the use of a Backup Exec SBS license key is supported on a Hyper-V host. The installation will allow Backup Exec SBS edition\license key to install on a Windows 2008/R2 server with Hyper-V and detect SBS server running in one of the guest machines.
NOTE:The guest machine running SBS MUST be actually powered on at the time of Backup Exec installation on the host.)
The SBS guest must be supported by Microsoft (SBS 2008 or Higher) per Microsoft KB (957006).
After a reboot of the Hyper-V host Backup Exec will report in Evaluation mode. Additionally under Tools - Install Options and License keys on this media server the Backup Exec SBS License key is not present. In Backup Exec under Help - About - License Information displays incorrect license information.
The Backup Exec SBS license key can be added again and the Backup Exec installation will not report in Evaluation mode. Once the Hyper-V host is rebooted again Backup Exec reverts to Evaluation mode.
The above behavior is by design. The SBS guest virtual machine should be started before the Backup Exec services start to detect and validate the Backup Exec SBS license key.
To workaround the issue, change the Backup Exec services on the Windows 2008/2008R2 host server from a Startup Type of Automatic to (Delayed Start).
NOTE: The Backup Exec Splash Screen will still report that Backup Exec as a "Trial Version" even though Backup Exec is functioning properly. See (TECH169297)
