When using a Delegate Mailbox Enterprise Vault functions will use the HTTP functionality

Solution

When a delegate mailbox is configured within Outlook and is enabled for Enterprise Vault Archiving with manual archiving available messages can be archived.  However only HTTP EV functionality is available within a delegate mailbox.

The following actions can utilize the DCOM functionality when performed on the Primary Mailbox, however the Delegate Mailbox will always utilize the HTTP functionality:

1. Viewing the properties of Outlook folders or the mailbox root, an Enterprise Vault tab is available which shows information about the policy that has been applied (please see the related article TECH69303 for details).

2. When archiving an item, a dialog box is presented giving the user the following options:

DCOM:

Archive Confirmation

HTTP:

Archive HTTP Confirmation

3. When restoring an archived item, a dialog box is presented giving the user the following options:

DCOM:

Restore Confirmation

HTTP:

Restore HTTP Confirmation

This functionality is by design, as the Delegate Mailbox will only use the default settings when archiving, restoring, and other Enterprise Vault functions.
