Problem
A Direct Access enabled backup job targeted to an OST DataDomain device using the Deduplication Option completes with exceptions.
Error
Direct Access is enabled for this job, but it could not be used.
Environment
BE 2010 R2, BE 2010 and OST DataDomain Device.
Cause
OST DataDomain device plug-in needs to be installed on required remote server.
Solution
First check the HCL if the device is supported. If supported, then the OST plug-in needs to be installed on the remote server along with the Remote Agent for Windows Servers (RAWS) in order run a backup to the Datadomain device using the Direct Access option.
Contact DataDomain (EMC) to obtain the plug-in to be installed on the required server.
