Information on the 9.0.1 Client:
Server side hotfix might be required
For Enterprise Vault 8 Service Pack 4, and for the release version of Enterprise Vault 9 there are hotfixes which should be applied to the Enterprise Vault servers in order to support this client release, and support for Outlook 2010. Please see the linked articles at the bottom of this Technote.
Enterprise Vault 8 Service Pack 5, does not require any server side hotfix.
Only HTTP client functionality is available
The client operates with the new Outlook Object Model, and is available as a HTTP client. This means you may encounter the following restrictions:
* Enterprise Vault folder properties tab is not available.
* When manually archiving with the client, you will not be presented with a list of archives. Instead the archiving operation will go to the users default archive.
* When manually restoring an archived item with the client, you will not be presented with a restore location choice. Items will instead always be restored to the current location.

<<New>> Unable to delete items when working offline (added 23rd November 2010)
If the Early Release Outlook Add-in is installed on Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 you will receive the following pop-up when you switch Outlook to working offline :
The operation cannot be performed because the connection to the server is offline
The issue does not affect Outlook 2010. The issue appears if you press the delete key, or Control-D, and you have set Outlook to "work offline" (via the option in the File menu). This issue affects archived and non-archived items.
Workaround
Use the delete button on the Outlook toolbar
<<New>> Error when dragging and dropping a shortcut item (added 15th November 2010)
In Outlook 2010, if you drag and drop a shortcut to an archived item, you may encounter the following pop-up :
You cannot copy an Enterprise Vault shortcut.
You can restore the item and then copy the restored item.
The pop-up will only appear within Outlook 2010, and in addition will only show if the Desktop policy setting "Allow shortcut copy" is set to "off". When this problem happens you will not be able to drag and drop shortcuts into different folders within the mailbox.
This issue is currently being investigated.
Workaround
Set the "Allow shortcut copy" policy setting to "on"
<<New>> When browsing Microsoft Exchange Public Folders an error may be reported in the Outlook client interface (added 9th November 2010)
The following error may be logged during browsing of Microsoft Exchange Public Folders:
Cannot display the folder. Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing messages you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing.
This issue is currently being investigated.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
<<New>> Vault cache being enabled automatically when set to 'Allow users to decide' (added 9th November 2010)
If your Exchange Desktop Policy is configured so that "Make Vault Cache available for all users" is set to "Allow users to decide", and on the Advanced settings you have "Show Setup Wizard" set to "off", Vault Cache will be enabled silently for all users without wizard or user intervention.
This issue is currently being investigated.
Workaround
Set the "Show Setup Wizard" to "on", and synchronise the mailboxes affected by the policy.
Outlook Startup Delay in some environments
When Outlook starts, the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in is loaded. In some environments there may be a delay of 60-90 seconds whilst this takes place.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
Archiving folders
You cannot archive complete folders using the Enterprise Vault Store in Vault button or command. Currently this is a limitation of the Outlook Object Model.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
Forwarding multiple shortcuts
To forward multiple archived items in their original form, for example to a non-Enterprise Vault user, select the items in your Virtual Vault. Alternatively you may wish to restore the archived items to your mailbox before you forward them. Unlike previous Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-ins, you can not select multiple archived items and forward them in their original form, instead Enterprise Vault attaches the actual shortcuts to the forwarding email.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
Reboot required after upgrade
You may be asked to restart your computer after an upgrade. This is usually caused by application files being locked, for example the underlying outlook.exe process can take some time (30 seconds or more) to end after the main Outlook window closes.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
Offline Archive Explorer does not display contents of folders
On Windows XP, if you upgrade to the Enterprise Vault Add-in for Outlook 2010, folders may appear to be empty when viewed using offline Archive Explorer.
Workaround
To fix this issue, run the following command after upgrading the Enterprise Vault Add-in :
%windir%\system32\regsvr32 %windir%\system32\msxml3.dll
Version information in Add/Remove Programs does not match installed version
This is not specific to the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-in 9.0.1 release. The version information presented in the Add/Remove Programs section of Control Panel is not intended to match the release version. To find the version which is installed locate a binary file, such as Valkyrie.dll, and view the version information from the properties dialogue.
Workaround
There is no workaround available at this time.
