If you configure a LiveUpdate policy with a single Group Update Provider (GUP) and set the "Maximum time that clients try to download updates from a GUP before SEPM" to XX minutes, Symantec Endpoint Protection clients will wait the same amount of minutes before contacting the single GUP.
This happens only if the clients are not in the same subnet as the single group update provider.
This problem has been seen in version 11.0.5 and 11.0.6.
This problem is fixed in Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.6300.803 (RU6-MP3). For information on how to obtain the latest build of Symantec Endpoint Protection, read Obtaining an upgrade or update for Symantec Endpoint Protection.
