Problem

Windows client exclude list not honored when backing up a shared drive in Microsoft Windows Cluster environments following upgrade to NetBackup 6.5.6 / 7.0 / 7.0.1

Error

There is no error but files in exclude list are being backed up.

Cause

Product Bug as per Etrack 2092274: "Windows client exclude list not honored on shared drive of Microsoft Cluster following upgrade to 6.5.6"

Solution

If this issue is experienced while running NetBackup 7.0.1, a hotfix is available for download here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH150081

If this issue is experienced while running NetBackup 6.5.6, a hotfix is available for download here: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH152708

The formal fix should be included in the forthcoming NetBackup 7.1 release - currently scheduled for release in February 2011.
