Error
Event ID: 58053

Environment
This issue was reported with HP StorageWorks VTL, but not limited to.
Cause
Almost all of VTL has multiple hardware emulation types. Depending on the emulation type, the device reports a SCSI inquiry string to the Backup Exec. If the SCSI inquiry string does not agree with the VTL section of the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL), the error mentioned above is reported.
Note: Because the emulation type of HP StorageWorks VTL is a physical library by default, the solution described below should be performed.
Solution
- Make sure of that the SCSI inquiry string agrees with VTL section of the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL.)
To change the hardware emulation type and the SCSI inquiry string of the device, please contact the hardware support.
- Open Backup Exec Console.
- Go to Devices tab.
- Make the device offline and delete the device.
- Stop and start the server.
After changing the hardware emulation type, the server should start again.
