Error: “E7C3000F: Device \\?\SymantecSnapshot0 cannot read [number] sectors starting at LBA [number].”Error: EBAB03F1: Incorrect function. (UMI-V-281-1987-15)


Cause



 

A backup job fails due to bad sectors present in the source drive. This occurs in Backup Exec System Recovery 2010.( Figure 1 & 2).

Solution



It is recommended to change the source drive(Hard drive/SCSI/RAID0/1/2/3/4/5).

Workaround for this error: select and use the "Ignore bad sectors during copy" option from  Advance when setting up backup job.  

 

Note:
Please do not check "Ignore bad sectors during copy" option on Backup Exec System Recovery 2010. Even if the backup job is successful at this time, it is possible that the backup data is unrecoverable.
