Recovery Solution agent installed count does not match license count in Altiris Console

Issue



The Recovery Solution agent installed count does not match the license count in the Altiris Console.

Environment



Recovery Solution 6.2.2106
Notification Server 6.0.6074

Cause



This is by design. The collection 'Computers with RS agent installed' is generated by determining which computers have reported the Recovery Agent is installed and has successfully registered with a Recovery Server. The License count for Recovery Solution simply determines which computers have reported that the Recovery agent has been installed even if the agent has been unsuccessful at communicating with a Recovery Server.


Solution



To recover licenses for Recovery Solution you can try the following steps.
  • Run the report 'Clients with no configuration in last N days' found in Reports->Notification Server Infrastructure->Agent->Configuration Request to determine those computers that are currently managed that haven't checked in within the specified time frame.
  • From this report determine if any of these machines need to be either deleted or set to retired.
If you have several machines that haven't checked in in quite some time you may also want to examine your Purge Maintenance settings and make changes if necessary.

Note: Machine that have been set to Retired do not consume Recovery Solution licenses.
