Problem

The Evt_NS_Event_History table has been seen to grow rapidly in some environments, where upwards of 550,000 Software Delivery Execution events per day are sent to the database.

Cause

Solution

The following SQL was provided to purge the Evt_NS_Event_History table:

     select * into #t from Evt_NS_Event_History
     where _eventTime > getdate() - 7

     truncate table Evt_NS_Event_History
     insert into Evt_NS_Event_History select _ResourceGuid, _eventTime, _forward, StartTime, ItemGuid, ItemName, ResourceGuid, ResourceName, TickCount, ErrorNumber, EventData from #t

     drop table #t
