Exchange 2003 backup fails with the error 0xe0000393 - Cannot extract mailbox messages from the Exchange backup.

V-79-57344-915 - Unable to complete the operation for the selected resource using the specified options.The following error was returned when opening the Exchange Database file: '-528 The current log file is missing.'
Cause
Insufficient privileges for Backup exec service account on Exchange.
Solution
1. Make sure BESA (Backup exec service account) has "Exchange Administrator" privileges. The account must be given the Exchange Full Administrator role in Exchange 2003.
2. Also add the BESA account to Administrators , Domain Admins and Backup Operators.
3. BESA should have an active Mailbox on the exchange server.
4. The BESA account and the associated mailbox should not be hidden in the Global address list.
5. Verify rights for BE service account by enabling "legacy mailbox support" in Backup exec from Tools > Options > Microsoft Exchange.
You should be able to Browse the Exchange mailboxes within the selection list after that. Please see the screenshot below:
6.Also make sure that the AOFO option is not selected in the backup job properties.
Note: Uncheck Legacy mailbox support after performing this test.
