Unable to copy a file from Windows 7 to Windows XP

Problem
Unable to copy a file from Windows 7 over the network to Windows XP Pro 5.1.
Files can be copied from Windows XP to Windows 7.
The only feature installed is Antivirus and Antispyware Protection.
After stopping the Symantec Endpoint Protection service on the XP machine, file copying works as expected in both directions.
Error
Environment
Running RU6 MP1
The file they were trying to copy was a .5 GB .dat file.
Clients are unmanaged.
The only feature installed is Antivirus and Antispyware Protection.
Creating a centralized exception for the .dat file had no effect.
Unchecking the File System Auto-Protect option for "Scan files on network drives" had no effect. - This option was changed on both machines.
Cause
There is a problem with SMB2 in Vista and Windows 7 versus SMB1 in Windows XP.
Solution
Upgrade to RU6 MP2.
