Error



Backup job fails with the error Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.  If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selection list. Edit the selection list properties, click the View Selection Details tab, and then remove the resource.

Cause



Utility partition has been removed or deleted and it still exists in the selection list of the backup job.

For example Utility Partition has been show below:


Solution



1.  Go to the Properties of particular backup job, from Selections under View by Resource uncheck Utility Partition, if exist. 

 2.  Also see under View Selection Details if utility partition exists in text mode, if yes, highlight it and click on Delete to remove it.

3.  After this, submit the job to save the changes and try running the job again to check the result.
