Issue

A SEP for Mac client is attempting to download and apply new definitions.  LiveUpdate indicates that the client already has the latest definitions, though these remain out of date.  Examining the liveupdt.log reveals the entries "The Java LiveUpdate session has completed successfully" and "Return code = 0"

Solution

Java LiveUpdate (JLU) entries which indicate that files are downloading and that an issue lies with the size of that file are not always accurate.  These messages are also displayed when no file of that name exists for LiveUpdate to download.

If the SEP for Mac client is attempting to download from a LiveUpdate Administrator 2.x (LUA 2.x) or LiveUpdate Administration Utility 1.x (LUAU 1.x), manually check that these desired update files are present.  Opening the URL of the LUA 2.x server's Distribution Center (DC) in Safari can quickly confirm whether or not LUA has been correctly configured to download and distribute the necessary SEP for Mac content.

Also note that these errors are common when an incorrect path has been configured.  (For example, liveupdate.conf has an incorrect path to the DC.)

Similar entries may be found in the liveupdt.log of other products which use JLU to retrieve content (for example, Symantce Antivirus for Linux).  These errors are not SEP for Mac specific.
