Problem
Validating push install of Remote agent from Media server fails with the above error message.
Error
"Error connecting to the remote computer. Ensure that the computer is available,has WMI enabled, and is not blocked by a firewall. 14"
Environment
- Microsoft -> Windows Server 2008 R2 -> Itanium
- Microsoft -> Windows Server 2008 R2 -> WebServer (x64-64bit)
- Microsoft -> Windows Server 2008 R2 -> Standard (x64-64bit)
Cause
The primary reason for this error message could be one or more Windows Firewall profile is/are enabled on a Windows Server 2008/2008 R2.
Solution
Turn Off Windows Firewall under "Domain Profile", "Private Profile" and "Public Profile" from under "Windows Firewall and Advanced Security" settings via following steps:
- Open Server Manager
- Expand "Configuration" option
- Highlight "Windows Firewall and Advanced Security"
- Turn Off Windows Firewall under "Domain Profile", "Private Profile" and "Public Profile"
- Push install Remote agent
