BlackBerry client enrollment fails: "Could not enroll with the PGP Universal Server"

Issue




When trying to enroll a BlackBerry device with the PGP Universal Server you receive the following error message:

"Could not enroll with the PGP Universal Server"

The logs on the PGP Universal Server do not indicate any enrollment requests from the BlackBerry device. When viewing network traffic, there isn't any indication of communication between the BlackBerry Enterprise Server(BES) and the PGP Universal Server.

This is caused by the MDS_CS service not running on the BES.

 


Solution




This can be resolved by restarting the MDS_CS connection service on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

 

  1. In the BlackBerry Manager, in the left pane, click a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  2. Expand the server.
  3. Click the entry for the MDS_CS connection service.
  4. If the Status is stopped, click Restart Service from the TASKS pane to the right.

You can also verify that the MDS_CS connection service is running by attempting to browse the internet from the BlackBerry device.
