Issue

When connecting a Maxtor BlackArmor Hard Drive on a system with PGP installed, neither the Maxtor Manager nor Maxtor BlackArmor Manager applications open to prompt you for your password to unlock the disk.

This issue applies to PGP Desktop 9.6.0 and above running on Windows 2000, XP, Server 2003, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

Solution

Currently using a Maxtor BlackArmor Hard Drive is not supported on a system with PGP Desktop 9.x installed. One workaround to view your files on a Maxtor BlackArmor Hard Drive is to uninstall PGP Desktop to access your files and then re-install PGP Desktop.

Note: This issue is fixed in versions of PGP Desktop 10.0 and above.
