Unable to Send Encrypted Email Messages

Issue




After manually creating a New Service to configure your email client to use PGP Messaging, you are able to receive and decrypt email messages, but you are unable to send any encrypted email.


Solution




This issue can occur when a PGP Messaging service is manually created and a Default Key is not specified for the service. Therefore the message is not being encrypted by your key when the email message is sent. To resolve this issue, edit the PGP Messaging service for your email account and specify a key for the service.

To Edit a PGP Messaging Service

  1. Open PGP Desktop.
  2. Click the PGP Messaging Control box and select your email account.
  3. In the Account Properties, click the drop-down arrow next to Default Key.
  4. Select the desired key from the list.
  5. Close PGP Desktop.
