Problem
This article details how to upgrade computers to Windows 7 with PGP Desktop installed.
| Note: Windows 7 is supported on PGP Desktop 9.12 and above. |
Solution
PGP Desktop 9.12 provides support for Windows 7 32 and 64-bit editions. Prior to upgrading to Windows 7, certain precautions should be taken on systems with PGP Desktop installed. PGP Whole Disk Encrypted Windows XP and Vista boot disks must be decrypted before upgrading to Windows 7.
Prior to upgrading to Windows 7
- Backup your PGP Keypair.
- Decrypt any system disks encrypted with PGP Whole Disk Encryption.
Warning: You MUST decrypt all partitions prior to upgrading to Windows 7. Data loss may occur on partitions not decrypted prior to upgrading your operating system.
- Uninstall PGP Desktop.
- Upgrade to Windows 7.
- Install PGP Desktop 9.12 or PGP Desktop 10.x.
- Import your PGP keypair.
- Encrypt your system disk.
