Issue

This article details the process to disable/unregister the PGP NetShare driver (PGPfsshl.dll). Disabling the PGP NetShare driver may resolve any rare connectivity issues caused by the PGP NetShare driver.

Solution

Please note that you cannot view nor use the PGP NetShare Properties tab (available by right-clicking a NetShare file or folder) for protected files/ folders after issuing the command to unregister PGPfsshl.dll.

Note: Unregistering the PGP NetShare dll does not affect the functionality of PGP Desktop. The effect of disabling the PGP NetShare dll is simply that the icon indicating that the file is encrypted is no longer displayed on PGP NetShare files.

To disable/unregister the PGP NetShare dll, perform the one of following steps:

  1. Click Start>Run.
  2. In the Run field, type regsvr32 /u PGPfsshl.dll.
  3. Click OK.

A Regsvr32 message will appear stating the command was executed successfully and the PGP NetShare driver has been unregistered.

  4. Click OK
The PGP NetShare dll may also be disabled from the command line using the following steps:

  1. On your client PC, Click Start>Run and type cmd in the text field and click OK.
  2. At the command prompt, type regsvr32 /u PGPfsshl.dll and press Enter.

A Regsvr32 message will appear stating the command was executed successfully and the PGP NetShare driver has been unregistered.
