PGP Portable Menu is not Displayed on PGP Desktop Client

Issue




After enabling the PGP Portable preference on the PGP Universal Server 2.12.0, updating the server license to include the PGP Portable functionality, and downloading the PGP Desktop 10.x client, the PGP Portable menu is not displayed.


Solution




Note: This article applies to PGP Desktop 10.x clients with PGP Portable with PGP Universal Server 2.12.0.

As PGP Portable uses the same functionality as a PGP Virtual Disk, if the policy option for PGP Virtual Disk option is not enabled for the client policy, the PGP Portable menu will not appear in the PGP Desktop context menu.

To enable the PGP Portable menu, you must enable the PGP Virtual Disk option for the client policy.

To enable PGP Virtual Disk

  1. Login to the PGP Universal Server administrative interface.
  2. Click Policy > Internal User Policy.
  3. Select the desired policy to edit.
  4. Click Edit next to PGP Desktop Settings.
  5. Select the File & Disk tab.
  6. Place a checkmark next to PGP Virtual Disk and click Save twice.
