Error code 0x00000634 - PGP Endpoint

Problem
When attempting to install PGP Endpoint with the PGP Endpoint Client Deployment Tool, the following error is displayed and installation fails.
Error code 0x00000634: Fatal error during installation
The PGP Endpoint Server logs display an error relating to the certificate: Failed to load a valid certificate, details: Cannot find object or property.
Solution
This can occur when the Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) protocol is disabled on the computer. The DCOM protocol enables software components to communicate over a network. When installing the PGP Endpoint client the DCOM protocol must be enabled to communicate with the PGP Endpoint Server.
Windows XP
- Click Start>Run.
- Type dcomcnfg and click OK. The Component Services window is displayed.
- Click Component Services > Computers.
- Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Select the Default Properties tab and place a checkmark next to Enable Distributed COM....
- Click OK to save the change.
- Close the Component Services window.
Windows Vista & Windows 7
- Click Start.
- Type dcomcnfg in the Start Search field and press Enter. The Component Services window is displayed.
- Click Component Services > Computers.
- Right-click My Computer and select Properties.
- Select the Default Properties tab and place a checkmark next to Enable Distributed COM....
- Click OK to save the change.
- Close the Component Services window.
