Problem

When booting a virtual machine to the BESR 2010 Symantec Recovery Disk (SRD), the VMXNET3 driver does not initialize, even if the driver is added to a custom SRD.

Error

Could not get Network Adapters

Environment

VMware virtual server configured with VMXNET3 network adapter, BESR 2010, using the 2010 SRD to boot up the VM.

Cause

The INF file for the VMXNET3 driver points to the 64-bit driver. The SRD can only use 32-bit drivers.

Solution

Remove 64-bit driver from the folder which contains the INF file that is used to add the driver to the custom SRD. If it is missing, the INF file will use 32-bit driver that remains.
