Problem
User authentication fails with any user, preventing remote control to a host, when the object of type inetOrgPerson is part of the Global Security Group

Environment
Windows 2003 Active Directory
Windows 2008 Active Directory
pcAnywhere Corporate Edition 12.5.463 and previous
pcAnywhere Solution 12.5.539 and previous
Cause
pcAnywhere Solution 12.5 SP 2 and prior versions, only supported two object type classes, USER and GROUP, and does not have any support for the inetOrgPerson object type. More information about the inetOrgPerson user type is available from Microsoft.
Solution
Symantec has provided a patch that updates pcAnywhere Solution to provide support for the inetOrgPerson object type. Follow the instructions in the Readme.txt for implementation instructions.
Symantec has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the current version(s) of pcAnywhere Corporate Edition. Symantec is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.
There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of pcAnywhere Corporate Edition at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time. However, this particular issue is not currently scheduled for any release.
