Issue

On a LAN, DHCP or Gateway Enforcer appliance in Symantec Network Access Control (SNAC) 11.0 - what is the difference between the admin login and the root login?

Solution

The root logon has full control and access to all commands in the Enforcer command line interface (CLI).

The admin logon has limited access to command in the Enforcer CLI; commands for showing the current configuration and status are available but commands for changing the configuration can not be executed when logged in with the admin credentials.

The CLI prompt will look like Enforcer$ when logged in as admin, and as Enforcer# when logged in as root.

The password for both user accounts is set during the initial configuration wizard when the Enforcer is first installed.
