Issue

Sometimes an Administrator may desire to check the installed version of the Encryption Plus Hard Disk (EPHD), GE/SEE FD User Program without using the program's user interface 'About' page (usual method to determine the version).

This article describes the file and properties to determine the version.

Error

Verification of Exact version including the Build number

Environment

All clients (EPHD/GE/SEE)

Cause

When a patch is released, individual files may be changed and the version information will be specific to that file(s)

Solution

The properties of the LaunchEPHD.exe file (by default, located in the path C:\Program Files\PC Guardian\Encryption Plus Hard Disk) indicate the date and version of the EPHD User Program installed.

Verifying the following files can also help in identifying the version as this DLL and EXE files will show the same version and build number for every new release.

Suggested executable or DLL files that can be used:

EA Framework Server: EncryptionAnywhereFrameworkMain.dll

EA Framework Client: EAFRCliConsole.exe

EA Hard Disk Server: EncryptionAnywhereHardDiskMain.dll

EA Hard Disk Client: EAHDCliPlugin.dll

EAECC.DLL

When a patch is released, individual files may be changed and the version information will be specific to that file(s)

Supplemental Materials

Description

For example, it can be determined whether a particular computer has EP Hard Disk version 7.0 build 016.00.00.1 or version 7.0.18 by checking the modification date of the file LaunchEPHD.exe. With build 016.00.00.1. This file will have the modification date of 9/20/02, while the file will have the date of 5/14/03 for EPHD User Program version 7.0.18
