You are trying to encrypt or decrypt a system equipped with a Toshiba hard drive, but the process is taking significantly longer than expected.
This issue has been found to occur on certain Toshiba Hard drive models when set to native AHCI mode. The issue is hardware-specific, and cannot be fixed by any modification to Symantec Endpoint Encryption software.
Toshiba have been informed of this problem, but no fix is available at this time.
In the meantime the following workarounds can be applied:
- If possible, configure the hard drive to use ATA, IDE or RAID mode in the BIOS. Re-install Windows and SEE.
- Replace the hard drive with a model that does not have this issue.
