Environment

  • IM Manager implementation with Sametime.
  • IMLogic Sametime Message Injector service is dependent on ST Community Launch service.

Perform the following steps to validate this:

1. Open the services control panel.
2. Right click on IMLogic Sametime Message Injector service and select Properties.
3. Click on the Dependencies tab.
4. This condition is true if the textbox for depends on these services contains ST Community Launch.

Cause

The IM Manager message injector service typically starts up early in the computer reboot process.  The startup process attempts to first start the ST Community Launch service.  This service may cause other Sametime services to start up.

These Sametime services are unable to start up because required Sametime resources are not available yet.  The only valid way for Sametime to start up is by the Lotus Domino Server service.

Solution

Symantec is aware of this issue.  This article is updated as more information is available.  Subscribe to the article to receive updates.

Workaround

1. Remove the dependencies to the ST Community Launch service.

a. Start regedit.
b. Delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IMlogicSametimeMsgInjector\DependOnService.
c. Close regedit.

Removal of this registry key results in Sametime services starting up as normal.

2. Ensure that IMLogic Message Injector Recovery Properties are set to Restart Always.

NOTE:  The message injector starts up before the Sametime services.  It attempts to log into Sametime.  Since Sametime is unavailable error events appear in the Windows System Event log.  See this article for details: Windows Application Event Log Contains the Following Error Message When Sametime Services are not Available: The IMlogic Sametime Message Injector service terminated unexpectedly.

a. Open the services control panel.
b. Right click on IMLogic Sametime Message Injector service and select Properties.
c. Click on the Recovery tab.
d. Ensure that all dropdowns have Restart the Service selected.
