Which version of Symantec Enterprise Vault (tm) can this hotfix be applied?
This hotfix can only be applied to the following versions of Enterprise Vault for:

Enterprise Vault for Microsoft Exchange 9.0.1, Build 1073


You get several errors in application event log of the Exchange Server 2007 Client Access Server (CAS) with Event Id 0 and message "EVOWA - Request not Authenticated (Could not establish the UserContext)"


Exchange Server 2007 OWA all versions.

Enterprise Vault 2007, 8.0 or 9.0.

Google Analytics, Urchin or any other web tracking service used on the same domain that the URL where the CAS server is publishe either internally or externally.


This problem is caused by tracking cookies taking precedence in the order of cookies presented to Exchange Server while authenticating to OWA when accesing a shared mailbox which cause Enterprise Vault OWA Extensions to fail to authenticate


What issue(s) does this hotfix resolve?
 If users log into OWA using basic or integrated windows authentication, using an explicit url (that is, it includes an email address) and a 3rd party application adds extra cookies to the session (for example, Google Analytics) then the event log on the CAS will record error events relating to "EVOWA - Request not Authenticated (Could not establish the UserContext)".

Which files does this hotfix replace? 

This hotfix includes an updated version of Enterprise Vault OWA 2007 Extensions.

How to Install this hotfix:

1. Install the refreshed OWA extensions on the Exchange Server 2007 CAS servers from the hotfix MSI installer.

How to Uninstall this hotfix:
1. You can uninstall the OWA externasion on the Exchange Server 2007 CAS servers from the Control Panel.

Symantec Corporation has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in earlier versions of the product(s) cited at the end of this article. Symantec Corporation is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.

There are no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in earlier versions of the software at the present time. However, the issue has been addressed in the revision of the product specified at the end of this article.
