Current Bandwidth not reported on RHEL without VMWare tools installed

Problem
This issue occurs when starting RHEL 4 as VMWare guest system with no VMWare tools installed. Copy and run command line from "Network Current Bandwidth Bytes/sec Linux" from
Network Linux policy produces no results.
Error
Copy and run command line from "Network Current Bandwidth Bytes/sec Linux" from Network Linux policy produces no results.
Environment
Monitor Solution 7.0 & 7.1
Monitor Pack for Servers 7.0 & 7.1
Cause
Problems are caused by "ethtools" utility not returning all expected
information for network interface.
Solution
After VMWare tools is installed and configured on system - utility will return detailed information and metric will start working properly.
