Issue

NetApp data backed up to tape using NDMP agent fails to restore with an authentication error.

Error

0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.

Cause

There are multiple NetApp Filers with multiple root accounts in the Backup Exec logon accounts.

Solution

In the restore job properties go to Resource Credentials tab and specify a logon account which has permissions on the filer. By Default the logon account is empty while configuring a new restore job. Once a logon account is specified the restore job will take that account to complete the restore operation. Click on the change button under the restore job properties in the Resource Credentials tab  select the root account click edit and then on change password re-enter the password click on ok.
