Cause

Check the following Registry key :  HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts.

Registry key does not contain string values for all installed fonts.  It may be empty or may be showing only String values for some fonts.

Issue may also occur due to corruption in specific Font type as shown in the error above.

Solution

There are two possible solutions if the issue is a missing string value as in example 1.

  1. Perform a repair installation of the Windows operating system in order to correct the registry key “FONTS” with all string values under it.
  2. Import registry key “Fonts” from another machine with the same Windows operating system and string values for all installed fonts.

If bkupinst.htm log file shows error with specific font type (like 'Courier New' ) then reinstall that specific Font on the Server.

After the registry entries have been corrected, the Backup Exec installation can be retried.
