I.  NEW FEATURES AND PLATFORM PROLIFERATIONS
============================================
This section describes the new UNIX and Windows features and platform
proliferations that are being released in NBCC 7.6.  The following lists
provide brief descriptions of the platform proliferations, and the new
features.

For those new features that have more detailed information available, a link
is provided to a corresponding tech note.

Platform Proliferations:
------------------------

+ 64-bit binary for Solaris x86 64-bit on Intel platforms.

New Features and Enhancements:
------------------------------
NBCC 7.6 offers the following enhancements:

+ Solaris x86 64-bit on Intel platforms

+ Removed the initial prompts regarding the potential detection of images
  that were written by unknown media servers.  Added command line options
  to designate the course of action to take for unknown media servers if
  desired.

=================
II.  KNOWN ISSUES
=================
This section contains known issues with this release.

-  Full end-to-end processing of NBCC/NBCCR data is not implemented for
   Active/Passive cluster configurations.  Due to NBCC/NBCCR data not being
   stored in a fail-over directory location, if a fail-over occurs during
   the course of a NBCC/NBCCA/NBCCR sequence of gather/repairs, a  manual
   placement/copying of NBCC/NBCCR data may be necessary to continue the
   repair sequence.

==========================
III. DOWNLOAD INSTRUCTIONS
==========================
Download the correct NBCC platform binary into the
appropriate directory on the master server:

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support

or

<NetBackup install path>\NetBackup\bin\support

=============================
IV. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=============================
Place the correct platform binary of NBCC on the master server in
the appropriate

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support

or

<NetBackup install path>\NetBackup\bin\support

NBCC is a self-documenting piece of software.  Once installed, run the
following command to obtain a detailed set information that describes
how to prepare for and execute NBCC:

# NBCC -help

=========================
V. UNINSTALL INSTRUCTIONS
=========================
Manually remove NBCC from the

/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/support

or

<NetBackup install path>\NetBackup\bin\support

directory.

VI. RELEASE CONTENT
===================
This section contains the Release Update conventions, content, and
historical content that is applicable to the release.

Conventions:
------------
The following list describes the conventions used in the subsections that
following this section.  Each item listed in the Current Release Update
subsection describes a feature, enhancement, or issue fixed with this
Release Update.

Description
     Describes a particular enhancement or correction contained in this
     Release Update.

Current Release Update
----------------------------------
Each item listed in this section describes a feature, enhancement, or change
that comprises this Release Update. Please read this section thoroughly to
understand the contents of this update.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2273726

Description:
    On Windows, updated NBCC to obtain the end-user's currently configured
    "digit grouping symbol".  This is used as part of the process of
    determining the amount of free disk space available in the output
    directory filesystem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2390243

Description:
    Enhanced the NBCC end-user experience by removing the initial prompts
    regarding the selected course of action to take for cases where NBCC
    detects images written by media servers that are not known to EMM.
    Added the following command line options for situations where such
    media servers and a course of action are known prior to running NBCC:

    -unknown_image_servers_comment_all
    -unknown_image_servers_expire_all
    -unknown_image_servers_inherit_all

    Please see the NBCC -help information for a full description of these
    new command line options.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2411202

Description:
    Enhanced NBCC to include the Image Primary Copy Number field from
    bpimagelist image records in its processing.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2595813

Description:
    Ported NBCC to a 64-bit binary for usage on Solaris x86 64-bit for
    Intel platforms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2646155

Description:
    Enhanced the NBCC end-user experience by removing the initial prompt
    regarding the version to use if NBCC cannot detect the NetBackup
    version for a media server.  If NBCC is unable to determine the
    NetBackup version, it prompts the end-user for the version to use.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2673886

Description:
    Corrected an issue where NBCC was not detecting a non-zero exit status
    from the running of the following command for media servers that are
    configured in Storage Units:

    vmoprcmd -h <host> -devconfig

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2753230

Description:
    Corrected an issue where NBCC could report a false-positive
    inconsistency due to it not detecting image fragments that are written
    on a disk storage unit that uses Uniform Naming Convention (UNC) as a
    path description.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2766144

Description:
    Enhanced NBCC to be able to detect NetBackup Snapshot client entries
    in EMM.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2770005

Description:
    For cases in which media servers that are not known to EMM were detected
    in images, and the end-user selects to have all of the related images
    inherited by another media server that is known to EMM, altered the
    meta-data logging to include each unknown media servers hostname.
    These hostnames are used by the NetBackup Support NBCCA analysis
    program to generate InheritImage Suggested Repair Actions.

    Also, when NBCC is run with the -batch command line option, for cases
    where there are media servers that are not known to EMM detected in
    images, added the default meta-data setting that all Suggested
    Repair Actions generated by the NetBackup Support NBCCA analysis
    program will be commented out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2774709, ET3026201

Description:
    Corrected an issue where NBCC was not detecting and processing
    bpimagelist records that contained fields delimited by double-quotes
    properly.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2841044

Description:
    Enhanced NBCC to check for configurations where a master or media
    server is incorrectly configured as a NDMP Host.  NBCC will output a
    message similar to the following:

      There are media servers configured in EMM that are also configured
       as NDMP hosts:

      <hostname>

       Please correct this invalid configuration and run NBCC again.

    If this configuration is encountered, NBCC will stop its gathering
    process.  The end-user should correct the configuration and run NBCC
    again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2910217

Description:
    Corrected an issue where NBCC was not detecting FalconStor OST
    direct-copy-to-tape Storage Servers and subsequently running the
    following command:

    bpmedialist -l -h <hostname>

   This bpmedialist command extracts media records from EMM for each
   server, which would result in false-positive inconsistencies being generated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET2954781

Description:
    For NetBackup 6.5 - 7.1, updated NBCC to not do the Advanced Disk
    consistency checks if the -upgrade command line option is used.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET3019167

Description:
    Enhanced the host name normalization processing done by NBCC.  NBCC
    now normalizes host names based upon EMM machine type.  This allows
    NBCC to utilize the appropriate EMM machine type entries to normalize
    the host name within a given NetBackup configuration or given
    catalog/database component.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Etrack Incident = ET3147867

Description:
    Corrected an issue in the processing of EMM Application clusters and
    configured Storage Units or Disk Pools where Fibre Transport Media
    servers were not being excluded from the processing.  This issue was
    discovered during Beta testing.  This issue originated with the
    changes for ET3019167 and thus should not be seen on previous
    versions of NBCC.
