Recovery Solution Server Agent keeps uninstalling after upgrading to 6.2 SP4.

Issue



After upgrading to SP4 for RS 6.2, Server Agents will uninstall and will continue to uninstall even after installing them again.


Cause



Something caused Uninstall Policies within a Hidden Folder to get activated during the upgrade process.


Solution



Run the following queries against the Altiris Database within SQL.

select Name from item where guid like 'E072A686-AE80-4370-A574-A2D604B481A4'
+Make sure the following GUID actually stands for ‘Recovery Solution Hidden Folder’

update item set attributes = 0 where guid like 'E072A686-AE80-4370-A574-A2D604B481A4'
+This will make the Hidden Folder with the Policies visible within the Altiris Console under the Configuration>Incident Management>Recovery Solution>Recovery Solution Clusters folder. Once it is visible go through and disable the Server Uninstall Policies. You can either right click them and choose Disable or open them, uncheck the box to Enable them and save the Policy.

update item set attributes = 19 where guid like 'E072A686-AE80-4370-A574-A2D604B481A4'
+This will make the Hidden Folder hidden again within the Console so you do not accidentally enable them again in the future.
