When the need arises to perform a 'factoryreset' on an additional NetBackup 5000/5020 appliance node in a multi-node NetBackup appliance storage pool, when attempting to login as the user 'sysadmin'(default password 'sysadmin'), the login fails.
There will be no error. You will simply not be able to login as the 'sysadmin' user on the additional appliance node.
Multi-node NetBackup 5000 or 5020 storage pool.
When a NetBackup 5000 or 5020 appliance is configured as a single node storage pool, the 'sysadmin' account is available to login and administer the system to perform actions such as a 'factoryreset'. When an additional NetBackup 5000/5020 appliance node is added to an existing single or multi-node NetBackup 5000/5020 storage pool, the 'sysadmin' account, to include the users home directory, will be removed on each subsequent node that is added to the storage pool. This is done by design so that the all storage pool administration(to include all additional node configuration) is conducted on the SPA(Storage Pool Authority) node using the 'sysadmin' user.
Should the need arise to perform a 'factoryreset' on an additional NetBackup 5000/5020 appliance node that was configured as an additional node for a multi-node NetBackup appliance storage pool, as of appliance build 1.3, it is important to note that when a 'factoryreset' is performed on the SPA appliance node of a multi-node storage pool, a 'factoryreset' WILL NOT BE PERFORMED ON EACH ADDITIONAL NODE. Since the 'sysadmin' account is used to perform a 'factoryreset' on a NetBackup 5000/5020 appliance and the 'sysadmin' account is removed when it is added to a NetBackup appliance storage pool, an alternate method must be used to perform the 'factoryreset' on the additional NetBackup appliance node. To do this, perform the following:
1. Login as the 'root' user on the additional node of the storage pool that needs a 'factoryreset'
2. Run the '/opt/pdappliance/scripts/reset-to-factory-default.sh' script.
