Issue

Installation of CCER 5.1 fails while "Configuring Cognos : ERROR: cognos configuration failed  due to incompatible NLS_CHARACTERSET".

Error

CM-SYS-5124 Content Manager cannot start because the database character set for the content store is not supported.

Cause

The character set of Oracle database instance for CCER was not correctly configured per configuration-requirements of CCER.

Solution

Please follow the recommended requirement of setting NLS_CHARACTERSET of Oracle Instance for CCER. Please consult it with your DBA for Oracle. For example,

1)    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE;

2)    STARTUP RESTRICT;

3)    ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET INTERNAL_USE AL32UTF8;

4)    ALTER SYSTEM DISABLE RESTRICTED SESSION;

5)   select value from NLS_DATABASE_PARAMETERS where PARAMETER = 'NLS_CHARACTERSET';

The 5th step will show the value AL32UTF8;

Please restart Oracle instance for CCER.

Please select the "Configure" option from 'Setup" menu, and execute it. You do not need to uninstall & re-install CCER.
