Problem
Error creating SEP Agent Package on the Client-Package Configuration Page
Error
Failed to create Symantec Endpoint Protection Client Package. Please see Altiris log for more information.
Environment
ITMS MR2, MR3 and MR4
Cause
Registry key creation erroneously assumed created by other code.
Solution
1. Close the Altiris console. Go to Windows -> Run. Type regedit to open registry editor.
2. Locate HKEY_Local_Machine\SOFTWARE\Altiris\eXpress\Notification Server\PreferredNSHost. If PreferredNSHost doesn't exist, right click on right panel. Select New -> String Value. Enter PreferredNSHost. That will create a required key.
3. Double click on PreferredNSHost. Type [NSServerName].[Domain].com, that will generate value for the key. Click on OK.
4. Open Altiris console and configure the package again.
This error should be addressed and corrected in v7.1 SP2 and later.
