Cognos fails to start after upgrading Oracle from 10.2 to 11.1


Error



CM-SYS-5003 Content Manager is unable to access the content store. Verify your database connection parameters, and then contact your database administrator for assistance.  ORA-01034: ORACLE not available ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory


Cause



Customer was still using and old 10.2 listener on the DB side


Solution



1) Copy the listener.ora file for Oracle 10.2 into the Oracle 11.1 and merge the configuration

2) Shutdown the 10.2 listener

3) Restart it as 11.1

4)  Verify that it works
