Problem
Backup Exec Deduplication Manager Fails to start and returns Error 1 : Incorrect Function
Error
Error 1 : Incorrect Function
Cause
Following string value may be pointing to a wrong path or may not exist:
HKLM\Software\Symantec\PureDisk\Agent\etcpath
Solution
If the Etcpath string value does not exist or is pointing to a wrong path, creating it or pointing it to the correct path should enable starting the Deduplication Manager Successfully.
The Etcpath needs to be created at the below place in the registry :-
HKLM\Software\Symantec\PureDisk\Agent
Registry String Value - EtcPath should point to "X:\Deduplication\etc" [where X stands for the drive letter where Deduplication folder is created].
If the above is present and pointing in the right direction please contact Technical Support to further analyze the Issue.
