You want to troubleshoot or monitor an index verification task.
The Verify wizard checks the health of 32-bit and 64-bit index volumes.
When an index volume is verified, it will first be put into read-only mode. Whilst the index is being verified, its contents will not change.
Different checks will then be performed depending on the Verification level selected. Finally, the index volume will be taken out of read-only mode.
To troubleshoot or monitor the progress of a running Verify, use Dtrace to monitor the following process:
- EVIndexQueryServer.exe (for 64-bit volumes)
- EVIndexVolumesProcessor (for 64-bit volumes)
- IndexServer.exe (for 32-bit volumes)
- IndexBroker.exe (for 32-bit volumes)
The Verify task will always run on the server that hosts the index volume.
