Issue

Log in to the Veritas Operations Manager (VOM) console fails with an error that the user is not authorized.

Error

Error V-39-53245-73

Failed to Log in. User is not Authorized.

Cause

The issue occurs if the VOM Central Management Server (CMS) database service, SQL Anywhere - SFM3_<HOSTNAME> is not started. This can occur for a number of reasons such as if the database crashes or if the server is rebooted and the database does not start before the service times out. When starting the service, the executable C:\Program Files\Veritas\VRTSsfmcs\asa11\Bin64\dbsrv11.exe -hvSQLANYs_SFM3_<HOSTNAME> is launched. If the database does complete starting before the service times out, the database will continue the startup process until it fails or completes. If it simply takes a longer time to complete, the service will need to be started again to allow users to log in to the VOM console.

Solution

  1. Launch the Microsoft Windows Services Applet
  2. Select the SQL Anywhere - SFM3_<HOSTNAME> service
  3. Select the Action > Start
