A computer that had previously had its status set to Retired later reverts back to Active.
Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2
A Symantec Management Platform Agent is still installed onto the computer. When basic inventory checks in next, the status of the computer is changed back to Active. This is working as designed.
Uninstall the Symantec Management Platform Agent from a retired computer to prevent it from continuing to be seen as active by the Symantec Management Platform server.
Note: If reports, especially IT Analytics reports, are being used to monitor asset status changes, these may be inaccurate. For example, IT Analytics requires its cubes to be frequently processed to obtain current data. If the status of a computer is in question, check it directly by editing the asset. If this is active but a report then shows it as retired, for example, then the report is incorrect. Process the IT Analytics cubes (if this is an IT Analytics report) or correct the report's SQL/logic to resolve its data discrepancy.
How the Retired status for a computer works
Altiris client licenses are not being reclaimed by Asset correctly after having their Status set to a non-Active status
KNOWN ISSUE: Resource Status is being overwritten on the parent server in Hierarchy or when Basic Inventory is received.
