Problem

A computer that had previously had its status set to Retired later reverts back to Active.

Environment

Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP2

Cause

A Symantec Management Platform Agent is still installed onto the computer. When basic inventory checks in next, the status of the computer is changed back to Active. This is working as designed.

Solution

Uninstall the Symantec Management Platform Agent from a retired computer to prevent it from continuing to be seen as active by the Symantec Management Platform server.
