Installing, updating and uninstalling iTunes take much longer to complete if Symantec Workspace Virtualization (SWV) layers are present on the machine and iTunes is on the base.


Environment



Windows 7 running SWV 6.1 SP7 and earlier.


Cause



Registry Query Caching was not being handled well by SWV.


Solution



Registry Query Caching has been improved in SWV 6.4.1287 (SP7 MP1 Beta). Customer validaton was carried out with SWV 6.4.1294 (SP7 MP1 Beta).

SWV 6.1 SP7 MP1 has a tentative release timeframe of Summer 2011.
